INTRODUCTION OF CALL AND EVOLUTION OF CALL :)

Hello everyone, i hope everyone is swell this lovely weekend. This is a updated post of the last two chapter of introduction to call and evolution of call that i have learnt the past few weeks.

CALL or also known as computer assisted language learning is known for is application of computer in language teaching and learning. I already immersed myself learning about it during my diploma about two years ago and now when I furthering my degree , I am learning into deep about the history of CALL and the evolution of CALL.

When I first know about CALL, I only knew about it being just using computer and adding the video and music when teaching and learning language. After the class, I was laughing at myself as I just noticed that all application of computer in language learning is under CALL and the CALL programs is very big. There are four types of CALL programs is

1. CALL -specific software
2. Generic software
3. Web-based learning programs
4. CMC

For everyone who is reading this blog, I am basically calling myself a gamer but know a hardcore gamer but I always immersed myself playing computer games and my interest in English language is when my mother and my aunt started letting myself playing English learning computer games on the computer during my primary level and it is one of the funny and interesting ways to let children to be introduce to English rather than watching television..

This is the best call specific software pc games that ever existed. It is called Zoombinis Logical Journey. It was in the late 1990s and I grew up playing this while waiting for my aunt to finish teaching her tuition class. This call specific software is focused on teaching children into thinking critical and logically. I wish the games was continued and i am still looking forward for the latest version of this game :)

Next, the second game is also belong in the CALL specific software section. This pc game also is in the 1990s and is had taught me in being a very advance typist. The pc game is called Kewala's Typing Adventure. This game is very interesting and excellent as it has an interesting and interactive interface. This is basically the newest version of the game :) Feel free to try. 

Besides that, through my diploma and degree life, i always used my laptop in doing my assignments and projects. The one that i always used fall under the generic software type of CALL . It is one and only:

Tadaaaa, here goes microsoft office and it has a variety of version through this years. My favorite one is MS 2007 as it was very easy to used and very easy to understanding. Sorry for my old-fashioned habits :). The next one also helped me in finding source on the web very easy. This is call web based learning programs and the one that I always used is this:

Wikipedia is a website that contains a lot of information about everything that you need to know such as about a person, a place, a item or history of the world. Fair warning, Wikipedia could be vary as the information could be change by numerous people through out the world. So check the information first before trusting it.

Onto the next topic which is the evolution of CALL. The topic might be boring but it is the basic knowledge that really help us to understand the knowledge and further knowledge about call. In class, i have learned about the three progression of call which are:

• behaviouristic call
• communicative call
• integrated call

The evolution of call is already started during the 1960s. The first is behaviouristic call and it was invented to transfer all the textbook and worksheet in computer based application. In my opinion, back then is was invented to make learning and teaching much more interesting for the children. Furthermore, the next one is communicative call and it is where is focused on language rather that good grammar. It focused on teaching student to pronounce correctly where the computer act as a tutor. 

The last part that I wanted to share about the advanced of call in the internet. The internet serve all various types of use from learning, teaching and a lot more. The internet also helped learners reached knowledge from the other side of the world from their fingertips and I hoped it could be more advanced where we could learn and received certificated from our home. That sound very fun :)
